Optimizing Your Pages

Jupiter Research claims that the single most important things to consider when making web pages is to make sure they load quickly.

Use Web Page Analyzer to find out how fast your pages load, get a thorough analysis, and some recommendations.

If Web Page Analyzer recommends you to optimize your graphics, here are some hints that you might find useful:

  1. Sometimes .GIF produces smaller images than .JPG. You will not know until you have tested it.
  2. When storing images as .JPG, many graphics programs let you reduce the quality of your pictures to make the files considerably smaller. You may decide on a more efficient compression ratio, or even run a built-in optimizer to make images smaller.
